TikTok will host Paul McCartney in a global livestream Q&A on the platform next week, ahead of the release of his new album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane.

The event will be broadcast live on TikTok on Wednesday (May 27) from 3:30pm BST / 10:30am EST.

It will see McCartney discuss the inspiration and songwriting behind the album and answer fan questions submitted by the TikTok community.

The Boys of Dungeon Lane, due out on May 29 via MPL/Capitol Records, is McCartney‘s first solo album in over five years.

His previous solo release, McCartney III, came out in December 2020.

Co-produced with Andrew Watt, the new album draws on McCartney‘s childhood memories of post-war Liverpool, and is described in the press release as “his most introspective album to date.”

“Paul McCartney is one of the most influential and enduring artists in music history, whose songwriting continues to shape culture across generations.”

Tracy Gardner, TikTok‘s Global Head of Music Business Development, said: “Paul McCartney is one of the most influential and enduring artists in music history, whose songwriting continues to shape culture across generations.

“TikTok is an incredible platform for fans to discover and rediscover iconic music, and we’re constantly inspired by the way new audiences continue to connect with Paul’s extraordinary catalogue, from the Beatles classics to his latest album.”

The McCartney event will kick off what TikTok calls TikTok LIVE Premiere – a new flagship LIVE series that the company says is “designed as the ultimate destination for the world’s biggest names across music, film, sports and entertainment to launch defining cultural moments through exclusive livestream experiences.”

TikTok said the series “transforms livestreams from one-off broadcasts into must-watch global events, where iconic talent connects directly with TikTok’s highly engaged global community.”

The company added: “We’ve seen how LIVE can bring artists and communities together in powerful ways, and we can’t wait for fans around the world to hear directly from Paul McCartney as he shares the iconic stories behind The Boys of Dungeon Lane.”

According to TikTok, McCartney has more than 1.2 million followers on the platform.

The McCartney event comes as TikTok continues to invest in its livestreaming capabilities.

Last year, the platform disclosed that 130 million creators worldwide now broadcast LIVE content daily on TikTok, alongside the launch of a new LIVE Fan Club feature.

TikTok has also expanded its live music competition strategy with initiatives such as the Music On Stage ’25 contest, which spanned 23 regions.Music Business Worldwide
