As Hungarian airline Wizz Air continues with its goal of becoming Spain’s most popular low-cost carrier, we look at its new national and international flights to and from the country this autumn and winter.
Wizz Air is due to open a new base at Valencia Airport on November 2nd of this year, meaning many more flights from there to the rest of the country, as well as other routes across Spain and to other European cities.
“The establishment of the base represents a major investment in the region and underlines the airline’s long-term commitment to Spain”, the airline states on its website.
Wizz Air aims to challenge low-cost giant Ryanair and will compete with it on 87 routes across Spain.
Here are the new routes launching this autumn and winter.
Routes from destinations across Spain
Málaga – London Luton (UK)
Starting on October 25th, this route will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Almería – Bucharest (Romania)
Launching on October 26th, this route will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Granada – London Luton (UK)
The inaugural flight will take place on October 27th and from then on it will run on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Asturias– London Luton (UK)
This route will also begin on October 27th and will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Bilbao – Santiago de Compostela
Starting from November 2nd, this route will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Bilbao – Málaga
Beginning on December 14th, this route will run daily.
Bilbao – Wroclaw (Poland)
Starting on December 19th, this flight will run on Wednesdays and Saturdays in winter and Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in summer.
From Madrid
Madrid – Palma de Mallorca
Launching on November 3rd, the airline will operate this route twice a day.
Madrid – Santiago de Compostela
Also starting on November 3rd, this will run operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Madrid – Pisa (Italy)
The route between the capital and the Italian city will also begin on November 3rd and will run daily.
Madrid – Asturias
Starting on November 4th, this will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

From Valencia
Valencia – Santiago de Compostela
Beginning on November 2nd, this route will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Valencia – Asturias
Also on November 2nd this will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Valencia – Brasov (Romania)
This route to the Romanian city will also begin on November 2nd and run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Valencia – Santander
The route to the Cantabrian capital will begin on November 3rd and operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Valencia – Palma de Mallorca
From December 14th, Wizz Air will operate daily flights between Valencia and the capital of Mallorca.
Valencia – Bilbao
Also from December 14th it will be running daily flights to the Basque Country.
Valencia – Naples (Italy)
Finally, another December 14th launch will run to the southern Italian city of Naples daily.
Prices will start from €14.99 for many routes and from €24.99 for others.
Having carried 7 million passengers between January and July – almost as many as it carried in the whole of the previous year – the airline will exceed 200 routes in Spain this winter, operating from 21 Spanish airports, with many in direct competition with Ryanair.
