Let’s face it Switzerland’s summer has gone on far too long, but it’s finally time to get your umbrellas and warmer clothing ready.
Though the next couple of days will still be mild, from mid-week onwards, the whiff of autumn will – quite literally – hit Switzerland.
Expect strong gusts of the ‘Joran’ wind – which blows from the Jura Mountains toward lowlands – to sweep the country, accompanied by rain.
According to MeteoSwiss weather service, Switzerland will gradually shift into cooler and wetter weather from Wednesday.
“After some localised morning fog, clouds will quickly move in,” it reports.

“Precipitation will arrive from the west during the day and is expected to spread across all regions by the evening.
Thursday promises to be the gloomiest day of the week, MeteoSwiss said.
“Skies will be overcast, and rain will affect the entire region. The snow line could even drop below 2,000 metres, Strong gusts of the *Joran* wind are also likely. On the plains, temperatures are expected to peak at around 17C..
Towards the end of the week, however, sun may peak through the clouds.
On Friday, “the forecast calls for some sunny spells, particularly around the Lake Geneva basin and in Valais.
You will, however, need to bring out your mid-season jackets: highs are not expected to exceed 15C.
And pretty much the same weather will remain in Switzerland throughout the weekend
This is the 8-day forecast for all regions.
