Canton Graubünden police reported two further fatalities on Sunday following the blaze in the town of Thusis. All other people in the house have now been accounted for, police added.

Of the five people originally reported as missing, one had already been located earlier. Despite the building structure having partially collapsed, it was searched over the weekend for the four missing people, according to a statement.

On Saturday, the cantonal police had already reported the discovery of two other bodies.

The Graubünden Public Prosecutor’s Office, in collaboration with the cantonal police, is continuing to investigate the cause of the fire and the circumstances of the incident, the statement added.

According to the authorities, the fire broke out on the second floor of the building shortly after midnight on Friday. Fourteen people were able to escape to safety. Eight of them were injured, two of them seriously.
