Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok has been upgraded to a 4 Star Airport by Skytrax, showcasing enhanced services and infrastructure. It’s advancing rapidly in rankings, aiming to handle 120 million passengers annually.

Suvarnabhumi Airport Achieves 4-Star Status

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) celebrates Suvarnabhumi Airport’s elevation to a 4 Star Airport by Skytrax, announced on 12 September 2025. This recognition underscores extensive service improvements and infrastructure upgrades at Thailand’s main international gateway. Enhancements include automated passport control, faster check-in systems, upgraded facilities, and expanded charging points.

Future Developments and Connectivity

Future plans feature Kids and Gaming Zones, co-working spaces, and cultural showcases, combining efficiency with Thai hospitality. Handling over 60 million passengers annually, Suvarnabhumi is a crucial hub for domestic and international travel. Recently ranked by Brilliant Maps as the world’s top airport for airline connectivity, it hosts 113 carriers, surpassing other major airports.

Strategic Growth and Vision

Having climbed from 58th to 39th in Skytrax’s Best Airports rankings this year, Suvarnabhumi aims for the top 20 within five years. The near-term goal includes expanding Terminal 1’s capacity to 80 million passengers. Longer-term plans outline a new Terminal 2 and a fourth runway, ultimately supporting 120 million passengers annually, reinforcing its global aviation status.
