Spain’s coastguard rescued all 11 crew members of a French fishing vessel Sunday after it began taking on water off the country’s northwest coast, the body said.
The Ray Primero sent a mayday early Sunday, about 10 miles from the coast of Spain’s Galicia region, reporting uncontrollable flooding and that the crew was abandoning ship in a life raft, the coastguard said on X.

A coastguard helicopter airlifted the crew to an airport near the Galician city of A Coruna for medical checks.
The now unmanned vessel, which is based in Lorient in northwestern France, remains adrift under the watch of rescue ships, with authorities attempting to stabilise it for a possible tow to port.
The Atlantic waters off Galicia, a key fishing region in Spain, are known for rough seas and sudden storms, which can make sailing hazardous.
