The Michigan Wolverines will host the No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday in a Week 2 Big Noon Kickoff matchup on FOX.
In one of the most dramatic endings in college football history, Michigan converted a miraculous Hail Mary to avoid a massive upset against Western Michigan in Week 1.
The Wolverines originally thought they had lost before replay review put one second back on the clock, giving them one final chance at a Hail Mary. They took advantage.
Despite the win, the Kyle Whittingham era got off to a rocky start as the Wolverines barely escaped a Western Michigan team that entered the game as 27.5-point underdogs. Bryce Underwood and the offense struggled mightily, managing just 13 points, 12 first downs and 276 total yards.
Still, Michigan is 1-0 and now has a huge opportunity to flip the script against a ranked opponent in Week 2.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma’s Week 1 opener went much more smoothly. The Sooners cruised past UTEP 51-0, with John Mateer throwing for 225 yards and three touchdowns.
Oklahoma’s defense also picked up right where it left off in 2025, shutting out UTEP after finishing last season as one of the best units in the country.

In Week 1, Michigan turned the ball over three times while failing to force a single takeaway. Underwood struggled through the air, completing just 12 of 23 passes (52.2%) for 170 yards and an interception. The Wolverines also struggled on third down, converting just 3 of 10 attempts (30%), compared to Western Michigan’s 8-of-18 mark (44.4%).
So Oklahoma is the obvious play here, right? Wrong.
This is college football, and in a big game like this, the edge goes to the home team. The betting markets are overreacting to Michigan’s poor Week 1 performance. Whittingham will have his team ready to bounce back, and it’s possible the Wolverines were looking ahead to this matchup and simply didn’t get up for a MAC opponent.
That won’t be the case Saturday. Michigan will be ready for a ranked opponent and a Big Noon Kickoff showdown in front of its home crowd. Back the Wolverines to bounce back and cover the spread.
