The Oil Ministry has agreed to deploy Tactical Crack Teams to inspect petrol pumps multiple times a day as part of efforts to curb fuel adulteration, according to Team Bharat.
Tehseen Poonawalla-led Team Bharat said on Wednesday that the Oil Ministry has agreed to deploy Tactical Crack Teams to inspect petrol pumps, and that part of this has already begun.
The meeting was joined by Praveen Mal Khanooja, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas; Mahmood Ahmad, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways; and Tehseen Poonawalla, Founder, Team Bharat, along with team members of Team Bharat, as well as senior Directors and officials from both Ministries.
Today, Team Bharat held its second constructive meeting with senior officials from the Ministries of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Road Transport & Highways, it said in a statement.
“ The Ministry has agreed to deploy Tactical Crack Teams to inspect petrol pumps 8–12 times every day part of which they have already started,” Team Bharat said in a statement.
Fuel quality monitoring will be strengthened to detect moisture, chloride and other forms of adulteration, it added.
Team Bharat seeks public support to curb fuel adulteration
The team also raised the issue of the withdrawn SIAM report, it said.
“Citizens with genuine cases of fuel adulteration can now share documented evidence with Team Bharat, which will be taken up directly with the Ministry for appropriate action,” the team said.
Discussions on E20 implementation, pricing and policy will continue in the coming week. This has never been about politics. It has always been about your right to clean fuel, transparency and accountability, it added.
The ministry further offered that if any citizen has evidence of adulterated fuel at a petrol pump, they should share it with Team Bharat so that necessary action can be taken against the offender.
Further discussions on E20 implementation planned
Team Bharat promises the citizens of India that, within the next few weeks, working alongside the Ministry of Petroleum, adulterated petrol will be a thing of the past.
Team Bharat will meet the Ministry again next week for another detailed round of discussions to examine the remaining technical, operational and policy issues relating to E20 implementation.
