Larsen & Toubro posted 14 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit at ₹4,123 crore in Q1FY27 on the back of a stable performance in its energy and realty businesses. Lower finance costs and treasury income also boosted the results.

In the quarter, the company bagged ₹1.08 lakh crore worth of orders across segments, a growth of 14 per cent over the previous year. Revenue growth, however, was slower as its projects were impacted by supply chain disruptions caused by West Asia crisis.

Revenue in Q1FY27 rose 7 per cent to ₹67,942 crore on a year-on-year basis. EBITDA declined 3 per cent to ₹6,116 crore and margins were lower because of execution challenges and project mix. “The financial year has commenced against the backdrop of geopolitical uncertainties. The company has managed to maintain momentum by rotating its focus across sectors and geographies while maintaining robust cash flows. The performance for the quarter reflects our portfolio resilience,” said SN Subrahmanyan, Chairman and Managing Director.

Gulf orders

While the offshore energy contract in Europe contributed largest share of order value in the first quarter, West Asia remains a promising region for the company, said President and whole-time director (finance) R Shankar Raman. Orders from Saudi Arabia and UAE contributed 20 per cent of total order wins in the first quarter.

Shankar Raman said project execution in the region has been delayed due to disruption in Strait of Hormuz, resulting in escalation in project costs. While the company is taking steps to mitigate the challenge by improved sourcing and through hedges, it is confident that customers will reimburse higher costs incurred in project execution.

“All our sites are safe. All our people working there are safe. We didn’t pack our bags and leave,” said Raman, referring to the conflict. He said the company is confident of winning more orders from the region from reconstruction and upgrade projects.
