Western Carriers (India) Ltd (WCIL) has won a four-year material handling contract worth ₹139 crore from Vedanta Ltd, the company announced today. The contract covers import, finished goods domestic, and export material handling operations at Vedanta’s Jharsuguda plant.

The shares of Western Carriers (India) Ltd (WCIL) were trading at ₹123.84 up by ₹7.94 or 6.85 per cent on the NSE today at 11.36 am.

WCIL CEO Kanishka Sethia said the order strengthens their relationship with Vedanta and could lead to future opportunities in the mining and mineral sector. The contract represents a significant expansion of the company’s operations in industrial logistics.

Founded in 1972, WCIL specialises in rail-focused supply chain solutions. The company operates as a 4PL asset-light logistics provider, offering integrated services across road, rail, and sea/ river transportation for both domestic and international cargo.

The Kolkata-based company has established itself in various sectors including metals, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, and oil and gas. WCIL’s business model focuses on providing customised single-window logistics solutions to address complex supply chain requirements.
