BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. Iran is interested
in increasing imports of agricultural products from Kazakhstan and
expanding practical cooperation in priority areas.
This was announced by the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture, citing
Iran’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture Akbar Fathi’s remarks made
during a meeting with Minister Aidarbek Saparov on the sidelines of
the seventh meeting of the Council on Agro-Industrial Policy of the
Eurasian Economic Union.
According to the ministry, in the course of the meeting, Saparov
noted that Iran is one of the most promising markets for expanding
exports of Kazakh agricultural products.
“We are focused on ensuring stable and predictable supply
volumes, expanding the range of products and strengthening a
long-term, mutually beneficial agricultural partnership with Iran,”
Saparov said.
According to the ministry, agricultural trade between Kazakhstan
and Iran increased by 55.8% in 2025, with agricultural products
accounting for 79% of total bilateral trade. Kazakhstan’s
agricultural exports to Iran increased by 97%.
The sides discussed the development of logistics capabilities
and the implementation of joint investment projects.
One of the key areas of cooperation is increasing grain
supplies. According to the ministry, Kazakhstan has the necessary
resource base and potential to form large and stable grain
shipments, creating opportunities to expand the long-term presence
of Kazakh products in the Iranian market. Vegetable oils also offer
additional potential for export growth.
The parties also discussed cooperation in seed production, the
halal products market, the exchange of experience in modern
agricultural technologies, and the introduction of advanced
solutions in agriculture.
Meanwhile, investment cooperation remains another area of focus.
The sides are interested in implementing joint projects that would
not only increase trade volumes but also create new production and
logistics chains in the agro-industrial sector.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to intensify practical
cooperation and give new impetus to agricultural ties between
Kazakhstan and Iran.
