In a televised address, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has apologised for declaring martial law earlier this week.

The order sparked chaotic scenes and was swiftly overturned by lawmakers.

A vote to impeach Yoon is scheduled for Saturday and tens of thousands of people have gathered outside parliament calling for him to go.
