BAKU, Azerbaijan,
August 5. Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan
and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the
Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev has denied a number of
remarks attributed to him in a report published by Türkiye
Gazetesi.
Hajiyev shared the statement on his official X social media
account.
“We had an interesting meeting with representatives of Turkish
media visiting Azerbaijan. However, I regret to note that some of
the remarks attributed to me in the report published by Türkiye
Gazetesi journalist Yılmaz Bilgen on August 5, 2026, were presented
in a distorted manner. A number of statements attributed to me in
that article are incorrect.
I would like to reiterate that the Republic of Azerbaijan
pursues an independent and principled foreign policy based on its
national interests,” he added.
