Impfung ist sinnvoll

Die rekombinante Zoster-Impfung (RZV, Shingrix), die seit Oktober 2021 in der Schweiz zugelassen ist, bietet einen Schutz von knapp 90 Prozent vor Gürtelrose und postherpetischer Neuralgie, unabhängig vom Alter. Kommt es trotzdem zu einer Erkrankung, verläuft sie milder als bei Ungeimpften. In mehreren Beobachtungsstudien wurde zudem festgestellt, dass die Impfung zu 20 Prozent vor einer Demenz-Erkrankung schützt.
