European Ocean Act

The ‘Have your say’ initiative comes from the European Ocean Act, which aims to strengthen and modernize maritime spatial planning as a strategic tool that serves and implements the European Ocean Pact’s priorities. It seeks to do this through increased cross-sectoral coordination at national level and a better organised sea-basin approach. It also aims to improve ocean observation governance.

The Act will reference existing binding targets, help meet them effectively and consistently and streamline reporting obligations.
