Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders could potentially be the first signal-caller selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, and the New York Giants are tied with the Las Vegas Raiders for the worst record in the NFL at 2-11.

So it was an interesting scene when Sanders was spotted having a catch with Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers in New York City on Friday night.

Sanders is in the Big Apple to support his teammate, two-way superstar Travis Hunter, who’s likely to be named the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner on Saturday night. Unfortunately, it isn’t publicly known if and where Sanders and Nabers had dinner in Manhattan.

For what it’s worth, in his latest NFL mock draft, FOX Sports’ Rob Rang has the Giants selecting Hunter with the No. 1 pick, and the Raiders taking Sanders at No. 2.

This season, Sanders has totaled 3,926 passing yards, 35 passing touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 168.8 passer rating, while completing 74.2% of his passes. His passing yards, touchdowns, passer rating and completion percentage are all first in the Big 12.

Furthermore, Sanders was recently named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, while leading the No. 23 Buffaloes to a 9-3 record; Colorado will close out its 2024 season on Dec. 28 in the Alamo Bowl against the No. 17 BYU Cougars.

Meanwhile, Nabers has totaled 80 receptions for 819 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games for the Giants; he missed two games due to a concussion. Nabers has also posted 100-plus receiving yards in two games. His rookie campaign comes against the background of the Giants starting three quarterbacks this season (Daniel Jones, Tommy DeVito and Drew Lock) and averaging a league-worst 14.9 points per game.

New York selected Nabers with the No. 6 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of LSU, with whom he averaged 80.5 receptions for 1,293 yards and 8.5 touchdowns per season over his last two years with the program (2022-23). Nabers is on pace to become the first Giants player to finish with 1,000 receiving yards since 2018 (Odell Beckham Jr.).
