Volunteers from Ukraine’s UAnimals charity dodge Russian drones to rescue people’s pets in cities under fire in the Donetsk region. They’ve saved hundreds of animals, from beloved dogs and cats to jittery goats and raccoons, delivering them to new homes in safer areas far from the front lines. But the work is more challenging than ever, as Ukrainians worry about their safety from Russian strikes, even in cities far from the fighting.
