The Atlanta Falcons were the favorites to top the NFC South heading into this season.

And with two weeks to go, they are still in the running — just not favored.

Now, the NFC South is Tampa Bay’s to lose.

Let’s take a look at the odds at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Dec. 23.

NFC SOUTH DIVISION WINNER ODDS

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: -135 (bet $10 to win $17.41 total)
Atlanta Falcons: +110 (bet $10 to win $21 total)

To be clear, the Falcons (8-7) are atop the NFC South standings at 4-1, while Tampa (8-7) is at 2-2. Atlanta also owns two division wins over the Bucs.

So what gives?

Well, in the final two weeks of the season, the Bucs host New Orleans and Carolina, two division opponents that they already beat and will be heavily favored to beat again.

If they do win those games, the Bucs will move to 4-2 in the division and 10-7 overall.

Meanwhile, the Falcons have games at Washington and at home against the Panthers, and it’s unclear if they will be favored in either, with rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. now starting at the most crucial part of the season.

In short, with the Bucs likely favored to win their final two games, the Falcons will have to do the same in order to keep pace with Tampa Bay when it comes to overall record, which will ultimately determine who wins the division.

Stay tuned. It’s shaping up to be a wild ride.
