We all know that Spanish bureaucracy can be difficult to deal with, but these apps can make it just that little bit easier.

From trying to book online appointments to accessing documents and viewing notifications from official bodies, these 10 apps can make life in Spain a lot simpler when it comes bureaucratic matters.

MiDGT

MiDGT is the app from the Spanish Directorate of Traffic (DGT), which is essential for drivers in Spain. It allows you to check the number of points on your licence, pay fines, manage your ITV vehicle inspection and more. You can store your driver’s licence and vehicle registration on the app too, just in case you forget the paper versions. These versions are perfectly legal and are even accepted by the police here.

MiDNI

If you have Spanish citizenship, you can use the MiDNI app to officially identify yourself. It allows Spanish citizens to use their smartphone for legal, in-person identification across Spain, with the same validity as a physical DNI.

DEHú

DEHú stands for Dirección Electrónica Habilitada Única or Unique Enabled Electronic Address. It allows you to receive, view, and manage official, legally binding notifications from public administrations such as the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT), DGT, and immigration agencies, directly to your mobile phone.

Mi Carpeta Ciudadana

Mi Carpeta Ciudadana translates as My Citizen’s Folder and is one of the most comprehensive apps when it comes to bureaucratic processes in Spain. It gives you useful notifications, such as deadlines for renewing essential documents like when to renew your driver’s licence or ID card. You can also view documents from education records and vehicle details to property records, health history, and employment status, as well as managing appointments and notifications.

Cita Previa AGE

We all know what a pain it is to book appointments (citas) online for various admin processes in Spain. Well, this app is designed so that you can request, manage, and cancel appointments in one place. These include appointments for places like Citizen Information Offices, Immigration offices for foreigners and the Civil Registry.

Cl@ve Firma

This is the official Spanish government application for secure electronic identification and authentication for public administrations online. You can do it through Cl@ve Móvil or by receiving the Cl@ve PIN all via a single APP. To make use of the Cl@ve APP, you must be registered in the Cl@ve system.

App Seguridad Social

Spain’s Social Security app allows you to directly manage your benefits and reports from your phone. You can request benefits from here, schedule appointments and look up your status. It is designed to save you a lot of time having all of these in one place.

Importass App

Another app from Social Security is Importass, which is particularly useful for those who are self-employed. Through this app, you can carry out procedures and view public and personal information easily, just as you do through the Social Security’s web portal. For the self-employed you can also change contribution base, view your self-employment receipts, update your personal information, set up direct debits and more.

Agencia Tributaria App

This is the official app from the Spanish Tax Agency. On it you can view your tax returns from previous years, pay your taxes, defer payments, check debts and schedule appointments. It means processes are a lot quicker as most tax-related procedures to be carried out remotely from your home.

App Sanitaria

Spain’s health apps are not necessarily bureaucratic apps, but they can help with certain processes. There will be different apps depending on the region where you live in the country, for example the one for Catalonia is La Meva Salut, the one in Valencia is GVA+Salut and in Andalusia its Salud Andalucía. They allow you to book appointments with your doctor, view your health records, see any test results and change your contact details, among others.
