They are, culturally, one of the best things to come out of Belgium and, now, a UK audience gets the chance to enjoy the Scala Choir.

The Scala and Kolacny Brothers is a renowned all-girls choir that performs and records classical arrangements of popular rock, metal, dance, hiphop and pop songs.

The choir has been lauded for its unique reinterpretations of iconic pop and rock anthems, brought to life through pure, harmonious voices, exquisite visual and choreographic elements.

It is conducted by Stijn Kolacny and accompanied on piano by Steven Kolacny, who also arranges the songs.

Its covers have been featured in many trailers of Oscar-nominated films such as Zero Dark Thirty and The Social Network and, recently, Spencer.

Their musical talents have also accompanied a diverse array of television shows including Sex Education, Downton Abbey, The Simpsons, Sons Of Anarchy, Homeland, Desperate Housewives, Lucifer and Nikita.

Recently, the group contributed a cover of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” to the acclaimed documentary Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck and a cover of Alanis Morisette’s ‘You Ought To Know’ to the documentary of her album ‘Jagged Little Pill’.

The choir, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, is currently on a near-sell out tour of Belgium and some other EU countries. As well as numerous towns and cities in their native Belgium, the tour also features a date in the UK.

But the Brits will have to wait a bit longer for their chance to enjoy the unique talents of these Belgians ladies: the choir is not due to appear in the UK until later in the year (September 30) when it graces the famous Cadogan Hall in London.

Scala and Kolacny Brothers have become massively popular and successful since its launch. They have recorded no less than 250 songs in different languages and released five studio albums.

Their current tour started in their native Belgium in January and there are numerous appearances coming up in Flanders throughout the coming year (many are already sold out so it is best to see the website for details).
