Thailand is celebrated in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2025, with Chiang Mai named a “Top City.” Additional accolades include Tha Kha Floating Market, Trang’s Sunset Beach, and Bangkok nightlife.

Thailand’s Recognition in Best in Travel 2025

On 24 October 2024, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) proudly announced Thailand’s accolades in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2025. Celebrating its 15th edition, the guide ranks 30 must-visit destinations, with Chiang Mai being honored as a “Top City.” This recognition underscores Thailand’s allure, reinforcing its position as a world-renowned travel destination. The list highlights outstanding destinations that promise unique and captivating experiences for all visitors.

Diverse Attractions Across Thailand

Beyond Chiang Mai’s award, Thailand secured titles in three additional categories. Tha Kha Floating Market in Samut Songkhram was praised among the “Best Markets,” showcasing Thailand’s vibrant commerce and culture. Trang’s Sunset Beach in Southern Thailand featured in the “Best Beaches” category, while Bangkok’s lively nightlife was honored for hosting the “Best Drag Shows.” These recognitions reflect the diverse experiences Thailand offers, appealing to tourists with varied interests.

TAT’s Commitment and Future Endeavors

Chompu Marusachot, TAT’s New York Office Director, expressed pride in these distinctions, highlighting Thailand’s magnetic appeal and outstanding hospitality. Looking ahead, TAT is eager to invite visitors to explore Thailand’s offerings: Must Taste, Must Try, Must Buy, Must Seek, and Must See. Selection for Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel involves meticulous curation by a panel of experts focusing on destinations with exceptional experiences and sustainability. This annual list not only results in a bestselling book but also amplifies Thailand’s global tourism presence.
