Thailand has reported a significant increase in Covid-19 cases, recording 52,917 new infections and four deaths between May 18 and 24. The cumulative number of infections since the beginning of 2025 has reached 186,308, with 44 deaths.

Key Points:

  • Case Distribution: The highest number of cases were reported in Bangkok, followed by Chonburi, Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi, and Rayong.
  • Risk Factors: The Department of Disease Control (DDC) highlights the rainy season and school term as factors increasing transmission risks in crowded places.
  • Preventative Measures: The public is advised to wear masks, avoid close contact with symptomatic individuals, practice frequent handwashing, and use ATK tests if infection is suspected.

The JN.1 variant remains the dominant strain, accounting for 63.92% of sequenced cases, according to the Department of Medical Sciences (DMSC).

Ratwinit Bangkaeo School in Samut Prakan temporarily shifted to online learning due to a rise in Covid-19 cases.

Covid-19 treatment is now integrated into the standard healthcare system, with holders of the 30-baht universal healthcare scheme able to receive care at any primary healthcare facility free of charge. Telemedicine services are also available via platforms like Clicknic, Mordee, and Saluber MD.

For individuals with different levels of symptoms, the following options are available:

  • 30-Baht Universal Healthcare Scheme Holders: Individuals under this scheme can receive care at any primary healthcare facility free of charge.
  • Severe Symptoms: Those experiencing severe symptoms should seek treatment at a hospital under their healthcare entitlement.
  • Mild or No Symptoms: Patients with mild or no symptoms can consult pharmacists and receive medication from participating pharmacies displaying the “30-baht treatment anywhere” or “my quality pharmacy” sticker.

Furthermore, telemedicine services are available through platforms such as:

  • Clicknic (Line: @clicknic)
  • Mordee (Line: @mordeeapp)
  • Saluber MD (Line: @smdthailand).
