Using your mobile phone outside Switzerland can be expensive, but if you are a Swisscom customer, you can benefit from lower-priced roaming packages for surfing in foreign countries.
Starting on June 1st, Switzerland’s largest telecom operator is launching cheaper roaming for surfing in over 100 countries — including Europe, the United States, and the UK — the company announced.
“This means customers will benefit from a price reduction of up to 66 percent for roaming, depending on the country they are in,” Swisscom said.
Just how much cheaper will the roaming fees be?
As an example, for the zone covering the EU as well as the UK, the old price for 1 gigabyte was 14.90 francs; from June 1st, it will drop to 9.90 francs.
For 5 gigabytes, the fee used to be 39.39 francs; the new price: 29.90.
Also, Swisscom used to charge 59.50 francs for 10 gigabytes. That package is now eliminated, and this price will apply to 20 gigabytes.
Besides the European Union and the UK (as well some non-EU members in Europe), these new prices will also be valid for the United States, Canada, Brazil, Japan, India, Thailand, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Egypt, among others.
Additional countries will be included in the offer in the autumn.

In addition, 100 megabytes per month is now included for all other roaming zones around the world.
Also, all mobile L customers now have an additional 10 gigabytes of data per year in the USA, Canada, Turkey, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro and North Macedonia, as well as 2.5 gigabytes per year for all other roaming zones around the globe.
