Union Labour and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday urged all states and Union Territories to work in close coordination with the Centre to ensure that the benefits of labour welfare schemes reach every worker across the country.
Addressing the National Conference of Labour & Employment and Industry Ministers and Secretaries, Mandaviya said the government, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas,’ is committed to placing citizens at the centre of every policy initiative.
Highlighting the recently launched Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY), which has an outlay of ₹1 lakh crore and aims to create 3.5 crore jobs, Mandaviya urged states to align their employment and social security programmes with the national mission for maximum impact.
“Policies are in place. Now it’s time to ensure action and implementation on the ground,” he said, stressing that collaborative efforts are vital to extend the reach of welfare schemes to every worker.
During the conference, Mandaviya launched two digital initiatives — the Digital Labour Chowk mobile app and the Online BoCW Cess Collection Portal — to improve transparency and efficiency in construction worker welfare and cess management.
Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, said India’s development journey is rooted in equity and transparency, noting that 171 million people have been lifted out of multidimensional poverty and social security now covers 94 crore citizens. She urged states to use platforms such as e-Shram and National Career Service (NCS) to reach unorganised workers.
Union Labour Secretary Vandana Gurnani said the conference, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, served as a platform for Centre–state dialogue to turn discussions into tangible outcomes.
Presentations were also made by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), the Labour Bureau, and the V.V. Giri National Labour Institute (VVGNLI) on expanding social security, digital governance, and data-driven policymaking.
Concluding the conference, Gurnani said both Centre and states reaffirmed their commitment to building a transparent, technology-driven, and worker-centric labour ecosystem that ensures inclusive growth and social protection for all.
