Former US Vice-President Mike Pence has warned that if President Vladimir Putin succeeds with Russia’s war in Ukraine “it’ll only be a matter of time before he crossed the border of a Nato country”.

Speaking to BBC Newsnight, Pence called for security guarantees in Ukraine to help deliver “just and lasting peace”.
