The price of international flights from Switzerland has fallen compared to 2024, particularly for certain destinations. But the trend won’t last for long, experts say.
During the summer of 2025, international flight prices fell by 4 percent on average, compared to the same period in 2024, and this trend is expected to continue until the end of the year – especially on certain routes.
According to a recent evaluation by the travel search engine Skyscanner, as reported by Blick, considerable savings can be had on flights between Switzerland and the United States.
On these routes, prices have dropped by an average of 18 percent.
The main reason is the political situation across the Atlantic.
Soon after Donald Trump launched his global trade war, the number of Swiss tourists visiting America (or planning to fly there in the future) has fallen substantially as a sign of protest against the 39-percent tariffs the US president slapped on Switzerland.
Therefore, due to what Swiss media called the ‘Trump slump’, the national airline, SWISS, had launched special, lower-priced flights to the US to fill its planes in the economy class.

Among the least expensive routes from Switzerland right now is Reykjavik; fares to the capital of Iceland are currently 31 percent cheaper than at the same time in 2024.
And you can fly for less money to these destinations as well:
- Bangalore, India: tickets are 22 percent cheaper
- Oslo, Faro, and and São Paulo: 13 percent
- Denpasar (Bali) and Lamezia Terme (Italy): 12 percent
- Copenhagen and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia: 11 percent
- Marrakech, Morocco: 10 percent

Why are these flights cheaper now?
Aside from the US, where the price drop is driven by political reasons, for other destinations, “the price decline is mainly due to increased availability and new routes from Swiss airports,” according to Skyscanner.
“When more seats are available on the same routes, fares generally automatically fall. Increased competition between traditional airlines and low-cost carriers also contributes to customers finding bargains,” it added.

Here today, gone tomorrow
Perhaps not exactly tomorrow, but if you want to fly to any of these destinations, you should book your flights right now.
That’s because these bargains will not last long.
“For 2026, many experts predict moderate price increases again,” Skyscanner noted, citing rising operating costs – for example, for jet fuel and personnel – as well as a desire by airlines to promote higher travel classes, as reasons for upcoming hikes.
