ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 18. Fuel prices in
Kazakhstan show a significant increase over the last almost five
years, Trend reports.
In September 2024, the average retail price of a liter of AI-92
gasoline in Kazakhstan was 202 tenge, which is equivalent to
$0.412. This represents an increase of 51.2 tenge or $0.104 (at the
current exchange rate), marking a 34.1 percent rise compared to
September 2020.
AI-95 gasoline saw a 48.2 percent increase. In September of this
year, it cost 254 tenge, or $0.518, which is 82.7 tenge, $0.169, or
48.3 percent more than in 2020.
Kazakhstanis are now paying 1.5 times more for AI-98. In
September 2024, it cost 295 tenge, or $0.602, an increase of 105
tenge, $0.214, or 55.2 percent more than five years ago. The price
was 190 tenge in September 2020.
As for diesel, summer fuel prices have risen by 1.6 times. At
the start of autumn this year, the price of diesel was 293 tenge,
or $0.598, which represents an increase of 109 tenge, or $0.222, or
59.2 percent, compared to September 2020.
Despite these price increases, gasoline prices in Kazakhstan
remain among the cheapest in the CIS countries, second only to
Turkmenistan. According to data from the Global Petrol Prices
portal as of early September 2024, Kazakhstan ranks 11th worldwide
for the lowest gasoline prices, while Turkmenistan ranks 8th. The
top three are Iran, Libya, and Venezuela.
