Engineering Services emerged as the fastest-growing sub-sector, crossing USD 11 billion with a 13.99 per cent growth, while BPO services contributed USD 58 billion.
The export of computer software and services, including ITeS and BPO, increased by 11 per cent on a year-over-year basis to USD 222 billion in 2024-25, the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council said on Tuesday.
The exports were at USD 200 billion in 2023-24, according to the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC).
“Exports of Computer Software and Services, including ITeS and BPO, reached USD 222 billion in 2024-25, an 11 per cent jump over the USD 200 billion recorded in the previous year,” ESC said.
IT software accounts majority
ESC Chairman, Veer Sagar, said IT Software and Services alone account for USD 147 billion, about 66.2 per cent, of the total exports.
“Engineering Services crossed USD 11 billion, the fastest-growing sub-sector at 13.99 per cent. BPO Services added USD 58 billion,” Sagar said.
US largest buyer
ESC Chairman for Global Outreach, Sandeep Narula, said that the United States remains by far the largest buyer, taking in USD 117.43 billion worth of Indian software, which works out to 52.9 per cent of total exports.
“The UK is a distant second at USD 34.41 billion. Japan, Germany, and the Netherlands round out the top five. These are not easy markets to win. Holding that kind of share in the US and UK, year after year, says something about the quality and reliability of what Indian firms deliver,” Narula said.
