On Tuesday, “during a targeted search in a pre-defined area of the floodplain, human remains were located and recovered,” the Valais cantonal police said in a statement.
The remains are in the process of being identified.
The 300 inhabitants of the village had been evacuated before the disaster.
The Swiss army has begun working on clearing the landslide, which has blocked a mountain stream, creating an artificial lake that has submerged what remained of the village.
