After a chilly start of August, you might have thought that Swiss summer is over. But you have not yet seen the last of this year’s heatwaves.
The summer weather will continue for at least another week, if not longer, according to meteorologist Roger Perret from MeteoNews weather service.
From high 20s, the temperatures will gradually climb to low and middle 30s.
And n southern and western cantons, as high as “38C is also possible,” he said.
‘It’s here to stay’
Summer isn’t just coming back, it’s also here to stay — at least for a while.
“At most, there might be some localised showers in the mountains. In the lowlands, it will remain dry and hot until at least the middle of next week,” Perret said.
Mountains will be warmer as well: the zero-degree snow line will rise to 4,600 meters, and could even go up to 5,000 meters.
“Such an altitude is rarely reached. It would almost be a record,” Perret noted.
