Uber on Monday announced the launch of metro ticketing on its app in Delhi, powered by the Open Network for Digital Commerce. The integration allows users to purchase QR-based Delhi Metro tickets and access real-time transit information directly within the Uber app using UPI.

This marks Uber’s first integration with India’s digital public infrastructure and aims to make public transport more seamless and accessible. Uber currently offers a range of transportation options on its app, including two-wheelers, autos, cars, and buses. The metro ticketing feature will be extended to three more Indian cities in 2025, the company said in a release.

The rollout follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2024 during Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi’s visit to India, wherein the company committed to supporting ONDC’s mission to enhance digital public goods.

“This partnership helps Uber become a comprehensive mobility platform,” said Praveen Neppalli Naga, Uber’s Chief Technology Officer. He added that the integration is a significant step in Uber’s journey to connect users with multiple modes of transport.

Vibhor Jain, Acting CEO and COO of ONDC, said the collaboration with Uber enhances access to reliable digital infrastructure and sets the stage for further innovations in mobility and logistics.

Additionally, Uber plans to launch a B2B logistics solution through ONDC next year. This will enable businesses to request on-demand logistics services from Uber’s delivery network without maintaining their own fleet. The service will begin with food deliveries and expand to e-commerce, grocery, pharmacy, and healthcare logistics.

The upcoming logistics platform is also expected to boost earnings for Uber’s network of 1.4 million drivers across the country.
