While Russia remains a major source of India’s arms imports, the reliance on foreign armaments is decreasing as domestic defence production has surged over the past decade. Indigenous production hit a record ₹1.27 lakh crore in FY24, marking an impressive 174% increase from ₹46,429 crore in FY15, reducing import dependency to 35% from over 65% in 2014-15.
