Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) officials raided a house in Anantnag’s Malkhnag locality Saturday and questioned a Haryana-based doctor living there as a tenant.
The raid was carried out during night hours at a residence about 55 km south of Srinagar. CIK personnel searched the premises for several hours and seized a mobile phone, which has been sent for forensic analysis.
Sources said that the doctor is being questioned as part of investigations into a terror module busted on November 9 by Nowgam Police.
The module, described by police as an inter-district network, was allegedly linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad and Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind. Several arrests, including five doctors, were made during the opeartion, and investigators recovered explosives, communication devices and what police said were materials used in fabrication of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Sources said the questioning of the doctor is aimed at verifying possible links or communication with members of the network. They declined to share further details, citing the sensitivity of the ongoing probe.
CIK, a specialised counter-intelligence arm of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, has stepped up raids and searches across the Valley following the November 10 Delhi blast that killed 13 people and injured nearly two dozen earlier this month.
Police have not yet issued an official statement on the Anantnag raid.
