Corals at UNESCO World Heritage area Ningaloo reef have suffered from mass bleaching as part of what scientists call a “marine heatwave”.

The coral harbours a massive amount of biodiversity and protects shores from extreme weather – so can anything be done to save it?

The BBC’s Katy Watson went to the remote Western Australian reef to discover whether the damage can be undone.
