At least 16 people have been killed after a funicular cable railway derailed and hit a building in Portugal’s capital Lisbon.

More than 20 others were injured, including four Portuguese, two German and two Spanish nationals – authorities say a three-year-old child was also hurt.

Local police are investigating the cause of the crash.
