Avex Music Group, the global music division of Japanese entertainment company Avex, has extended its publishing deal with songwriter and producer Grant Boutin in partnership with Ryan Tedder’s Runner Music.

The deal, announced yesterday (August 20), reinforces Avex’s strategy to develop global talent and its position as an international music company with offices in Tokyo and Los Angeles.

Boutin originally signed with Avex in 2021, with Runner Music joining in a joint venture in 2023.

He is known for co-writing and producing Tate McRae’s MediaBase Top 40 No.1 1 hit Sports Car and Greedy, the latter of which has over two billion streams worldwide. He also co-wrote and produced McRae’s hit single Revolving Door, currently rising on Top 40 charts.

Brandon Silverstein, CEO of Avex Music Group, said: “I’m incredibly excited to partner with Grant on this amazing deal, and I look forward to continuing to build Grant’s career alongside the Runner Music team.”

Ryan Tedder, co-founder of Runner Music, and Amanda Hill, President & Co-Chief Creative Officer, added: “We are so proud of all that Grant has achieved and can’t wait to see all that is to come. He is an incredible talent, and we are excited to continue our relationship with him and our friends at Avex Music.”

On the deal, Boutin stated: “I am super excited to continue on this journey with Avex and Runner. Both companies have been such great partners and so supportive of me and my career. I’m looking forward to continuing to grow together.”

Raised in Poway, California, and trained at USC’s Thornton School of Music, Boutin began as a teenage electronic producer under the moniker Grant Bowtie, releasing music on Monstercat and performing at major festivals including Tomorrowland and EDC. His current work spans pop, electronic, and global genres, demonstrating a versatility across charts and styles.

In addition to his work with McRae, Boutin has contributed to Meghan Trainor’s album Timeless, co-produced for BLACKPINK’s LISA, and participated in the F1: The Album soundtrack with Don Toliver and Doja Cat on Lose My Mind.

Boutin is managed by Anthony D’Annunzio and Big Family’s Damon Bunetta and Wes Geiken.

Avex Music Group operates globally across music publishing, recorded music, studio operations, catalog acquisitions, and artist management through its S10 Entertainment division.

Runner Music, an independent music company co-founded by Ryan Tedder and Ron Laffite, focuses on nurturing songwriters, producers, and artists across genres, emphasizing a collaborative and creative environment.

Avex recently launched Toibox, a new publishing joint venture with producer Elkan, known for his work with Drake and Rihanna.Music Business Worldwide
