Many multi-national companies have offices in Switzerland, and some are ranked among the country’s best employers.

In their new ranking, Swiss economic magazines PME and Handelszeitung, along with the Statista institute, revealed their list of Switzerland’s 250 ‘Best Employers of 2026.’

The ranking is based on the feedback received from 15,000 employees throughout Switzerland, who were asked to rate  their willingness (on a scale of 1 to 10) to recommend their own employer to others..

Two among the top-10 winners are foreign companies:

Unilever

This British consumer packaged goods company with offices in Thayngen, in canton Schaffhausen, is in the 5th place.

Microsoft

The US technology giant – 10th in the ranking – has multiple offices in Switzerland: three in Zurich, and one each in Geneva and Bern.

Which other foreign companies received high scores?

IBM

Zurich-based American internet company, IBM, follows Microsoft in the 11th place.

IKEA

Close behind (17th) is the Swedish IKEA (though its founder, Ingvar Kamprad, had lived in a Lausanne suburb for many years until his death in 2018).

The furniture retailer is present in 13 locations throughout Switzerland.

Google

The US company that is synonymous in everyone’s mind with the phrase ‘search engine’ ranks in the 27th place.

Its corporate office is located in Zurich.

Siemens

The German multi-national technology firm, present in Zurich and Zug, is ranked just a bit under Google – in the 29th place.

Johnson & Johnson

The US pharmaceutical company, in the 76th position, rounds up the foreign companies in the top-100 on the ‘Best employers’ list.

Its Swiss operation are spread across nine locations.

What about Swiss companies?

Switzerland’s cult drink Rivella is in the first place.

It is followed by two insurance companies – Mobiliar and Zurich- which rank in the 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.

Among other top-10 Swiss companies, Hilti, the manufacturer of tools and software for the construction industry, took the 4th place.

Next are Zweifel (potato chips and other snacks) in the 7th place, and elevator manufacturer AS Ascenseurs/Schindler, in the 8th.
