The Catalan Fire Brigade expects to declare the blaze that’s been raging for several days under control on Thursday afternoon.

Swimming banned at five beaches in Valencia and Alicante due to water pollution

The Valencian Government banned swimming at five beaches in the region this Thursday after detecting water pollution levels above the recommended amounts, as part of the 300 analyses authorities are conducting in bathing areas.

Specifically, the beaches of El Perelló, Motilla, and Palmeretes in Sueca (Valencia); La Solsida beach in Altea (Alicante); and Fuentes del Algar beach in Callosa d’en Sarrià (Alicante) have been closed.

According to the Ministry of the Environment, authorities are now investigating the source of the spills in collaboration with other authorities.

Israeli tourists kicked out of Vigo restaurant

The owner of an Italian restaurant in the northwestern city of Vigo on Tuesday expelled a group of Israeli tourists from the restaurant’s terrace.

“Get out of here. You’re killing Palestine. Go eat in Gaza, there’s good beer there,” the owner of Lebanese origin said in an incident he filmed and which has been widely shared on social media.

“Sons of bitches, you kill people and you come on holiday here,” he added.

According to the restaurant owner, the Israeli customers shouted “Long live Israel!” when he asked where they were from.

As they left, one of them shouted “Fuck Palestine.”
