Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said in a series of social media posts that he held meetings with the textiles, steel producers in Mumbai and those from the engineering goods sector to discuss strategies for exports.
In a post on X, Goyal said, “Held an engaging and forward-looking interaction with the champions of India’s agriculture, food-processing and seafood sectors — the true architects of our food and nutritional security. We discussed a wide range of strategies to scale value-added exports, from ready-to-eat agri products to processed seafood, ensuring that India moves up the global value chain.”
Goyal is meeting exporters from various sectors over three days to talk about the implications of the 25 per cent tariffs imposed by the US on Indian goods.
Goyal said that he had an insightful interaction in Mumbai with leading industry captains from the textiles sector. “Discussed bold ideas to enhance global competitiveness, sustainability, innovation & value chain integration.”

“Together, we’re weaving India’s rise as a global textiles powerhouse,” he said.
The minister also engaged with leaders of the engineering goods sector and held productive dialogues with major steel producers in Mumbai.
“Focused on ideas like advanced tech adoption, reducing logistics costs, increasing iron ore production, and expanding India’s role in global value chains by making our MSMEs more competitive,” he said on his X handle.
He added, “Looking forward to a collaborative roadmap ahead to forge a resilient & future-ready steel industry.”
