The country, one of the top-three global oil producers, classified its output and exports data after the invasion of Ukraine, making an independent assessment of the state of its upstream industry challenging. Apart from IEA reports, market watchers rely on ship-tracking exports data, estimates of refinery runs and assessments of compliance with the nation’s output quota under OPEC+ to understand how the Russian industry performs.
