UN Conference in Seville causes travel chaos for locals
The Andalusian city is hosting the UN’s 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, a meet with international leaders which on its first day caused problems for sevillanos.
Security measures have resulted in traffic jams and travel problems for locals, many of whom have had to walk to work in the summer heat due to road and public transport cuts.
Authorities are expecting more of the same on Tuesday, the second day of the summit.

Fake beaches promoted in Mallorca to catch out tourists
A Tiktok vlogger who is based on the biggest Balearic island has warned holidaymakers to watch out for fake posts and videos on social media promoting ‘hidden beaches’ which in fact don’t exist.
Trolls have actually gone to the trouble of labelling them on Google Maps in a bid to get tourists to go to some of the island’s worst neighbourhoods, with names such as “Cala Son Banya” or “Cala Son Gotleu”.
The advice is to double check and if there are no reviews for said beaches or coves, the chances are that they don’t exist.
The news is another example of how overtourism has turned some locals against holidaymakers, with a similar situation happening over the past years, as fake signs were put up warning tourists of jellyfish and other dangers in a bid to dissuade overseas visitors from going to popular beaches.
Government registration of tourist flats starts today
From today, Tuesday July 1st, all short-term and temporary accommodation in the country must be registered on a Spanish government portal.
The measure is aimed at controlling the proliferation of unlicensed Airbnb-style properties in the country, as a means of addressing the worsening housing crisis.
Spain’s heatwave continues but in fewer regions
The heatwave that began on Saturday will continue on Tuesday, but this time eleven regions are on orange alert for high temperatures rather than all 17 as was the case over the weekend.
Specifically, Andalusia, Aragon, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, Navarre, the Basque Country, and La Rioja will be on orange alert in the afternoon, and the alert will end at 8:00 p.m.
