Music tech company Songtradr is uniting its key B2B music businesses under the MassiveMusic brand.

Under the new structure, announced on Wednesday (June 11), MassiveMusic will offer 7digital’s global distribution services, Big Sync Music’s advertising and licensing expertise, Musicube’s AI-driven metadata and search functions, and Resonance Sonic Branding’s strategic services.

The result will be what Songtradr calls “the industry’s most comprehensive, innovative provider of brand and business-centric music solutions, combining creative excellence with cutting-edge technology,” providing brands, agencies and platforms with a “seamless, end-to-end partner to maximize the impact of music and sound at scale.”

Clients will have access to music licensing expertise and a “vast” catalog of pre-cleared music; custom music, sonic branding and strategic audio solutions; proprietary tools like SoundCheck and MusicIQ for data-driven insights and measurable ROI; and global reach.

“This unification under MassiveMusic marks a pivotal step in simplifying the complexities of the music industry for our clients,” Songtradr CEO Paul Wiltshire said.

“Together, we deliver scalable, tech-driven, and creative sonic solutions that deepen emotional connections, elevate brand perception, and drive measurable business results across every touchpoint.”

Over the past half decade, California-based Songtradr has expanded from providing a B2B music licensing marketplace into a variety of tech-driven music services, by way of strategic acquisitions.

It acquired creative music agency MassiveMusic in 2021 to lead its B2B Music Services division.

The following year, it acquired Musicube, which has a database of tens of millions of song titles and hundreds of keywords with which to seek out music. The acquisition was aimed at “harness[ing] the power of data and tech-enabled intelligence” to improve its music services, Songtradr said at the time.

UK-based 7digital became a part of the Songtradr family in 2023, when Songtradr acquired it in a $23.4 million cash deal. 7digital provides a catalog of millions of licensed tracks and API services to power music in apps for fitness, social, radio, gaming and background music.

Creative music licensing agency Big Sync Music has been part of Songtrader since 2019, when the music tech company acquired it from Unilever.

Songtradr has also made a number of other acquisitions that aren’t being brought under the MassiveMusic umbrella, most notably Bandcamp, the online music community that Songtradr acquired from Epic Games in 2023.Music Business Worldwide
