Though not the first or only study of this type, a new survey reveals the Swiss and international companies where employees like working the most.

The survey comes from Great Place To Work, which calls itself an “expert in workplace culture.”

The company “worked with 280 organisations and surveyed, anonymously,  64,578 employees [in Switzerland] on the aspects that make a great workplace,” it said.

It named winners in several categories, ranging from large companies to ‘micro’ ones.

And the winners are…

These are the top-five best companies with at least 250 employees:

  • Hilti (industrial tools and equipment)
  • Stryker  (medical technology)
  • DHL (transport)
  • Cisco Systems (information and telecommunications technology)
  • Salesforce (software)

Next: Companies with 100 to 240 employees:

  • Hilton Hotel (Hospitality sector)
  • Amgen (biotechnology and pharmaceuticals) — second and third place
  • Service Now (information technology)
  • APP Unternehmensberatung (business and technology)

 In conclusion…

Keep in mind that results of such surveys can vary, depending on which questions are being asked and how they are formulated.

What’s even more interesting is the kind of perks employees (particularly foreign nationals) look for when applying for jobs in Switzerland.

Yes, wages are, of course, a very important factor — but not only.

It turns out that employees also seek non-monetary rewards, such as integration support, including help with learning the language.
