Valencia will soon have a direct transatlantic route for the first time in over a decade, connecting the Mediterranean capital with the largest city in Canada’s Québec province.

A new transatlantic flight route will soon link Spain’s third main city with Montreal in Canada.

For the first time in 13 years, Valencia’s Manises airport will have a connection to the other side of the Atlantic.

The service will be run by Air Transat and judging by schedules online, it will fly on Saturdays.

The eastern Spanish city has not had an transatlantic flight since 2012, when its connection with New York was scrapped.

The new route, which will operate weekly from 21st June 2025, strengthens the airline’s offering in Spain, which already serves Canada from Barcelona, Madrid and Málaga.

“The addition of this route to our summer schedule, an exclusive, non-stop route to the Americas, demonstrates our commitment to offering unique and diversified travel options,” said Sebastian Ponce, Transat’s Chief Revenue Officer. “It allows us to further develop our presence in the Spanish market and offer even more opportunities to discover Canada.”

The Local has checked pricing via Air Transat’s website for flights booked three months ahead, with return flights starting at around 710 for basic packages. Prices via flight comparison websites could be cheaper.

Montreal will be one of the more than 100 destinations that will be operated from Valencia airport over summer 2025.

Currently, people in Valencia can catch direct flights to a number of European countries, Morocco and Algeria as well as Türkiye.

Some of Valencia’s other new flight routes in 2025 include the two weekly Play flights to Reykjavik in Iceland, a new SAS flight to Copenhagen (Denmark) and one to Oslo (Norway) operated by Norwegian.

EasyJet will strengthen its connectivity with Amsterdam (Netherlands) with two weekly flights, while Ryanair will add Pescara (Italy) and Poznan (Poland) to its network with two weekly flights each to and from Valencia.

Dan Air will join the network with three weekly flights to Bucharest (Romania) and finally Canary airline Binter launched flights to Gran Canaria and Tenerife in April.
