New train service to be launched between Rameswaram and Tambaram

A new train service is set to be launched between Tambaram, south of Chennai, and the island of Rameshwaram in South East Tamil Nadu.

Based on the demand of the people belonging to the districts of Chidambaram, Mayiladuturai, Thiruvarur, Pattukottai, Aranthangi Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram, Union Minister L Murugan, and Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and requested the new train service for the benefit of the people of the above districts.

The train will pass through Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Thirupadhripuliyur, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, Thiruttaraipoondi, Pattukottai, Aranthangi, Karaikkudi, Sivagangai Manamadurai and Ramanathapuram.

The Railway Minister interacted with the district representatives of party and the public over video conference and agreed to the overnight train services connecting these districts from Rameshwaram to Tambaram (Chennai), says a release.
