Professionals seeking a fresh work environment now have a new option –Kazakhstan’s Neo Nomad Visa. Introduced in November last year, this visa allows remote workers to live in Kazakhstan for up to one year while continuing employment with foreign companies.

The B12-1 visa is designed for digital nomads, entrepreneurs, and remote employees looking for an affordable yet dynamic location. The first recipient was a British energy sector professional, highlighting its appeal to global talent.

Applicants must provide proof of a stable monthly income exceeding $3,000, tax declarations, a criminal record clearance, comprehensive health insurance, and an invitation letter (waived for citizens of 48 pre-approved countries). The application process, handled by Kazakhstan’s embassies or consular offices, takes no more than five working days, according to Kazakhstan Travel.

Family members and dependents of visa holders can also apply for residence under the same terms. While this visa does not permit local employment, it exempts holders from Kazakhstan’s tax obligations, making it a viable option for remote workers based in Geneva and beyond.

As digital nomadism continues to rise, the Neo Nomad Visa offers a unique opportunity for Geneva’s international workforce to explore Kazakhstan’s rich culture while maintaining their professional careers
