BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 29. The leader of the
new Syrian authorities, Ahmed al-Sharaa, will serve as the
country’s president during the transition period, Syrian military
operations department said, Trend reports.

“We announce the assumption of office by Ahmed al-Sharaa as the
country’s president during the transition period, who will serve as
the president of Syria and represent it at international forums,”
the statement said.
