Thailand’s Transport Ministry plans to upgrade Hua Hin Airport for international status by 2026, enhancing tourism and connectivity, with recent passenger traffic exceeding 75,000 in the 2024 fiscal year. The upgrade will include expanding the runway, improving terminal facilities, and adding advanced navigation systems to accommodate larger aircraft and increased passenger capacity.

Thailand’s Transport Ministry is enhancing Hua Hin Airport to accommodate increased travel demands and achieve international certification. With over 75,000 passengers in the 2024 fiscal year, this upgrade is set to establish Hua Hin as a critical hub for both domestic and international tourists, thereby bolstering the local economy.

Currently serving only domestic flights, the airport operates routes mainly with Thai AirAsia. Significant developments are planned, including runway expansions to support larger aircraft, and the project is expected to be completed by April 2026.

The next phase will involve further enhancements, estimated to cost approximately THB 300 million, pending budget approval. These improvements are anticipated to not only facilitate international flights but also significantly boost tourism in the Prachuap Khiri Khan area.
