Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met
with Secretary General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Carla
Barnett on the sidelines of the 29th session of the Conference of
the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate
Change, Trend

The prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and CARICOM, as
well as initiatives that can be implemented within the framework of
our country’s chairmanship of COP29, were discussed at the
meeting.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the first visit by CARICOM
to our country is a good opportunity to develop cooperation between
Azerbaijan and the Community, and stressed the importance of
expanding such contacts to discuss existing cooperation
opportunities. In particular, it was noted that during Azerbaijan’s

humanitarian assistance to more than 80 countries, including 20
small island states, and these countries included 12 CARICOM member

peoples, was noted, and the importance of cooperation in the field
of education and scholarship programs implemented by our country
was brought to attention. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, speaking in
detail about the main priorities and areas of Azerbaijan’s
presidency of COP29, thanked the community for the support provided
to our country’s initiatives, in particular the holding of the
Small Island Developing States Summit.
Secretary General Carla Barnett noted that despite the fact that
the presidency of COP29 is quite a complex and responsible
platform, the session was organized by our country at a high level,
congratulated Azerbaijan on this event and wished success during
our presidency.
