Branch of French University to open in Kazakhstan

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 5. A branch of the
University of Lorraine will open at the Abai Kazakh National
Pedagogical University, Trend reports.

This was announced by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev, during a briefing for the media as part of his visit to
France. Following extensive talks, President Tokayev and French
President Emmanuel Macron made a joint statement to the press.

“This visit is very important for us. France is a close and
reliable partner of Kazakhstan within the European Union. Over the
past 34 years, our relations have acquired a strategic nature,”
said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

He emphasized that during substantive talks with President
Macron, the need for the development of trade and economic
cooperation was highlighted. Tokayev also focused on expanding
contacts between leading universities in the fields of science and
technology.

“We are currently considering the establishment of a
Kazakh-French Lumière University Center. Additionally,
Kazakh-French schools will be built in Astana and Almaty. Relevant
documents were signed today. These schools will undoubtedly provide
young people with the opportunity to receive education to the
highest standards. Kazakhstan is ready to strengthen relations with
universities and research centers in France,” the President
noted.

For his part, Emmanuel Macron emphasized the importance of joint
efforts in tackling global challenges such as climate change and
the fight against terrorism. According to him, France and
Kazakhstan share similar views on key regional and international
issues, based on adherence to the UN Charter, respect for the
principle of territorial integrity, and the protection of human
rights.

At the conclusion of the briefing, the Presidents of Kazakhstan
and France adopted a Joint Declaration aimed at strengthening
strategic partnership.
